Welcome to November's newsletter
November is set to be an exciting month across the District, with lots of events planned in the lead up to Christmas.

It's fantastic to see a number of Harborough District Businesses shortlisted for the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards.

We also introduce our community toilet scheme and celebrate the launch of a new social group in Lutterworth for residents with dementia, mobility, or rural isolation needs.

Work.Live.Leicestershire are now holding drop in sessions every Tuesday in Market Harborough library to support over 18s to find work, set up a new business, find voluntary posts or free training.

Lastly, do have fun on bonfire night - and stay safe.

There will be an opportunity for shoppers to contribute their own messages of support at Harborough Market from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 2 November 2019 and Council Chairman, Councillor Barbara Johnson, will be in attendance.

The public will also be invited to craft a poppy and write a note of remembrance, both of which will be used to create a Community Wreath which will be laid as part of the annual Remembrance Day Service on Sunday 10 November 2019 in Market Harborough.

Following the great feedback after the Autism Hour held on the 5 and 12 October, Harborough Market will continue to hold an autism hour every Saturday 9am to 10am.

Fuel Poverty
Fuel Poverty Awareness Day is on 29 November 2019.

Harborough District Council is working with Harborough energy to support residents to access funding for energy efficient measures. Last year over 500 homes benefitted from loft or cavity wall insulation.

The Council also recognises vulnerable groups are at risk of fuel poverty, either due to ill health or hard to heat homes.

A report has identified those at risk, and enabled the council provide targeted support. So far, in 2019, 128 homes have received energy efficient measures to keep their home warmer.

Fuel poverty across the District has dropped over recent years and is now at 6.9%, down from 11.5% in 2011, but that still represents over 2,500 homes.

A Council endorsed, Switch and Save Scheme which aims to save you money on your energy bills is also still available until 16 November 2019.
