Thank you to everyone who attended our Vital and Viable Horncastle follow up meeting on Tuesday evening at Stanhope Hall. We were delighted to see so much enthusiasm in the room and to hear about several community led heritage projects. You can read more about these in the Heritage section of this newsletter.

We also heard from Kay Burge from Horncastle Recruitment who is one of the founding members of the newly established Horncastle Traders Association, who spoke about their key aims. The Traders Association is keen to ensure that traders within the town have a voice and that the town is looking clean, tidy and ready for business. Anyone wanting to hear more information about the Association can email Kay directly on kay@horncastlerecruitment.co.uk.

Public Realm is a key issue for the town. We are working in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council to develop a public realm strategy for our market towns. This document will ensure a joined up approach to public realm and identify key sites to prioritise action. You will be invited to give your views on this as the project develops.

The Town Council, Lincolnshire Coop, Horncastle Walkers are Welcome and the Horncastle Trade Association are working together for a Horncastle Community Clear Up Day on March 26th 10am - 12noon. If you would like to get involved please meet at The Stanhope Hall - everyone is welcome, equipment and refreshments will be provided.

Business owners in the town centre are also able to apply for up to £10,000 to repair and reinstate their traditional shop fronts. More information can be found here www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/sfgs

Gail from Walkers are Welcome was able to share a draft of the heritage trail leaflet we have been supporting them with. Gail explained that they are exploring ways of creating trail interpretation points around the town. The final copy will be available in hard copy and digitally.

Ian Marshman from the Horncastle History and Heritage Society gave a presentation about their plans to create a community arts and heritage centre in Watson's Free Infant School. If you would like to hear more about the project please contact ian.marshman@btinternet.com or visit www.horncastlecivic.org.uk.
