Help bring Hope and Light to Spilsby this December

This Christmas we're bringing some magic to our market towns and we want your help to do it. We're working with Different Light Collective, the organisation behind Spilsby Light Night, to deliver Hope and Light - a unique community project that will see special light projections take place in Alford, Horncastle, Louth and Spilsby.

In early December a projector will be placed in each town opposite a building that will act as an outdoor screen for a short film comprised of artwork designed by members of the community. The Hope and Light team have released templates which members of the community are encouraged to design, decorate and return, so they can be included in the projections which will run each night until New Year's Eve.

Each town has its own unique themed template, but residents can complete as many as they want before the deadline of November 6, at which point all the designs will be animated and turned into the short films that will be projected in each town.

Hope and Light will also see an empty shop front in each town transformed with a festive backdrop and digital display, which will show all the designs submitted by the local community. In December, residents will also be encouraged to share their hopes and wishes for the coming year by completing a special weatherproof tag and affixing it to a display in the town centre; more details on where to get the tags will be shared soon.

Templates are available online - www.different-light.co.uk - and will also be made available in a number of shops and community venues in each town; look out for the poster. The Spilsby template is attached here too.

Completed templates need to be returned to hello@different-light.co.uk or via post to Different Light Collective, c/o Spilsby Sessions House, Church Street, Spilsby, Lincolnshire, PE23 5DY. Please help us to spread the word!

Shop Local, Stay Safe, Be Kind campaign update

The Stay Safe, Shop Local, Be Kind campaign continues across market towns in the Lincolnshire Wolds and along with the pavement and street signage installed in the town centre recently, the next round of activity in the campaign has also launched.

Facebook and Instagram accounts are now live for Spilsby and are found by searching 'Love Spilsby' on each platform.  These pages are customer facing are share information from retailers and hospitality businesses in the town, along with general tips and advice about shopping local and keeping up to date with Covid-19 safe procedures etc.

The pages are intended to act as inspiration for shoppers and over time become an easy to find, quick source of info of businesses in the area. If your business has a Facebook or Instagram page, simply add the hashtag #LoveSpilsby to your posts and the team will pick them up and add them the campaign accounts. By sharing and amplifying your content we can promote your business and also create a stronger campaign.

In addition to social media a series of press adverts have been placed in the Spilsby Standard, and other weekly and monthly publications – all with the intention of reassuring shoppers to rediscover town centre shopping and raise awareness of the Stay Safe, Shop Local, Be Kind campaign. These adverts will often run together with editorial case studies of local business, written to update shoppers about the extra measures and processes businesses have put in place to ensure they are Covid safe and compliant.

And to make sure we are reaching people countywide - all of this activity is also complemented by a radio advert which is currently airing across Lincolnshire on Lincs FM and also a Safe and Local Shopping guide in the form of a leaflet which will be distributed across the county starting this week – again inspiring and reassuring customers to rediscover our town centres and featuring a series of local business case studies, and directing them the social media pages to find out more.

Looking to the next stage of the project - work now continues to increase individual business content across all the channels mentioned above, and also collaborate with upcoming campaigns such as Small Business Saturday and Christmas to keep the momentum up. To date we have reached an audience of over 420,000!  If you would like to feature in the campaign, or have news to share please message us via the LoveSpilsby social media channels or contact samantha.phillips@e-lindsey.gov.uk who will connect you with the campaign manager.
