Horncastle to receive national High Street Task Force support

You may already be aware that East Lindsey District Council has been selected as one of 70 Councils to receive specialist support from the Government's High Street Task Force as part of a national programme to support high street recovery. We were asked to choose one specific town for the Task Force expert to focus on and we are pleased to announce that Horncastle has been selected to take part in this unique opportunity. We hope that this support will strengthen our Vital and Viable programme and provide professional guidance to local groups who are already working hard to help develop the town further.

The Task Force are an alliance of place making experts who are working to redefine the high street. You can read more about the programme here: www.highstreetstaskforce.org.uk/news/70-local-authorities-to-benefit-from-high-streets-task-force-support.

The next step will see the expert visiting Horncastle to identify what support would be most beneficial in the town before developing a detailed programme of activities, which may include mentoring, place making workshops, and training programmes for place managers and leaders. I will keep you fully informed about this process and the opportunities to get involved.

New market trader incentive

A new incentive scheme has been launched to inspire new traders to take a stall at one of our council-run markets in East Lindsey.

Under this new scheme we would like to offer any new traders free stall rent until 11th July 2021 on our Spilsby, Louth, and Horncastle markets. This incentive is intended to offer a relatively low cost way for a business to test the water and see if people like the product on offer. Market trading is a simple and flexible way to not only start running your own business but is also used by established businesses as a means of promoting their products to a different audience. Visit our website to find out more.

Bunting and bollards

We have worked with the Horncastle Lions to get bunting hung up in the town centre and wish to express our sincere thanks to the amazing volunteers who have made this happen.

We have also been able to secure a contract to paint the bollards and some of the street furniture to ensure the town looks welcoming as it reopens to the public.
