This week polls open in the local elections that are taking place across the district. On Thursday 6 May voters across the borough will have their say in a number of elections, including the Police and Crime Commissioner and Lincolnshire County Council elections.

Polling stations will be open from 7am - 10pm and you can find details of your polling station by visiting www.wheredoivote.co.uk or by checking your poll card. A range of measures will be in place to ensure polling stations are safe to use, including safety signage, hand sanitiser stations, and staff will be wearing face masks and screens. We're also encouraging you to take your own pen or pencil along too.

Details of all candidates standing for election can be found here:  www.mybostonuk.com/elections-6-may-2021

Monthly Police Update
Hello, I am Marie Williams and I have been a Police Community Support Officer in Boston for the past 15 years. My colleagues consider me part of the furniture here in Boston. I have worked in various areas of the town, but for the past few years have been working on the Town West team covering the Fenside and Staniland wards. My work is varied, and no two days are ever the same. I enjoy all aspects of my role, and the variety and challenges it presents. I love nothing more than getting out on foot patrol, talking to local residents, listening to their issues and concerns and working out productive, practical ways in which to help them and try to resolve those issues.
Over recent years through knowing local children on my area I have become more and more involved with schools not only in my area but across the Borough, getting to know staff and pupils, identifying and addressing issues as they arise. I have worked in both primary and secondary schools, delivering the Mini Police project at primary level, along with various talks, sessions and engagement days at secondary schools. Paper and card bin collections
Thank You! Last week was our first Borough wide paper and card bin (purple/purple-lidded bin) collection. We'd like to say thank you for supporting this scheme. The paper mill has said the quality of what you have separated was 'excellent'. The 2% of bins we couldn't collect was mainly because they contained fast food packaging including takeaway pizza boxes, used tissues and disposable face masks (these items should be placed in your green bin). Thank you again for supporting the rollout of this service and recycling responsibly. Find more information about recycling and which bin different waste should go in on our website here. Remember in two weeks' time, we will be collecting your blue recycling bin. Three weeks on after lockdown eased for Geoff Moulder
Three weeks ago on Monday 12th April the Government announced that our leisure centres could reopen their doors as part of Step 2 of the Roadmap after months of closure and staff adapting back to working differently to keep our members fit and healthy as we continued throughout this pandemic. Geoff Moulder Leisure Centre reopened on this day after extensive measures were taken to maximise safety. Throughout the pandemic they worked hard to ensure that all of the members and residents of the borough had free access to live virtual fitness classes which were supported by Boston Big Local, Sports England and Active Lincolnshire.
