Lincolnshire Councils Agree to Ground-breaking New Partnership

Boston Borough, East Lindsey and South Holland District Councils have formally signed off on plans to create an ambitious new partnership – the largest such partnership of councils in the country.

After being approved in principle by the three authorities last month, each council had been considering the detailed business case for the formation of the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership over the last week with final agreement coming from Boston Borough Council at their meeting last night (2 August).

Whilst each council will continue to be politically independent and be accountable to the communities they serve, the three councils will work collectively, supported by a shared management team and workforce, to deliver on their aspirations for their communities and to tackle common challenges.

Every Borough Councillor and Parish Council within Boston Borough is set to receive £1000 to provide additional support to their local communities to boost health, wellbeing and community cohesion as part of the Borough Councils efforts to support communities as they recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through the new Councillor Grant Scheme, Ward Councillors and Parish Councils will be able to use the funding to provide a much needed cash boost to their local areas. Eligible groups will be able to apply for funding from their local Parish Council or Ward Councillor to fund initiatives in their community that meet the grant criteria.

The Councillor Grant Scheme is now open for applications until the end of January 2022. Application guidance, eligibility criteria and application forms can be found online at www.mybostonuk.com/councillor-grant-scheme

Skate Jam

Following the build of a new Skate Park in Boston last year and unable to hold an open event due to COVID 19 a Skate Jam will be held on the Skate Park which sits within Central Park Boston on 15th August 2021 starting at 12 noon through to 4pm to celebrate this amazing installation. The park was installed by Maverick Industries who will be hosting the event.

Everyone is invited to attend whether to come along and showcase their skills and try to win a prize or just to watch the event from the side lines. You do not need to book a place.

Demo riders will be in attendance to show what tricks and skills can be done on skateboards, BMX's and scooters.

Local organisations such as Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex, One You, Lincs Fire and Rescue, Lincolnshire Police, Community Alcohol Partnership, Road Hog Youth Bus, Lincolnshire Co-op and Woman's Aid are attending to give out information and advice on Healthy Living, Youth Opportunities, Fitness and Safety.

Although Covid 19 restrictions have been lifted we are advising everyone in attendance to be mindful of social distancing and regularly use the sanitizing stations. Masks will also be available for use during the event which is also advised.
