Welcome to your June customer update which includes news about our repairs service, information about home contents insurance and our pledge to support the Armed Forces and their families.
Our repairs service
Since restarting our paused services in April, we have experienced a much higher number of repair requests than usual.

This is being seen by other housing associations too and is a sign that after 15 months of restrictions, confidence in booking appointments is now returning with the success of the vaccine rollout. We're taking an average of 100 extra requests for repairs each week and this number hasn't started to reduce yet.

We are working hard to meet the increased demand and make sure that appointments can be given without too long a wait.

We thank you for your understanding and patience while we work to keep all our customers' homes safe and in good condition.
Reception and office appointments
Thank you to everyone who completed our survey about face-to-face services at our Bryer Ash office in Trowbridge. We have taken on board the feedback and are using it to inform our future ways of working.

We are continuing to follow government guidance and whilst our reception remains closed for now, we are working on plans for when restrictions are lifted. We will keep you informed.

Home contents insurance
Selwood Housing Group insures your home as part of your tenancy agreement, but this does not cover your personal possessions such as furniture, carpets, curtains, clothes, bedding, electrical items, jewellery, pictures and ornaments.

No matter how careful you are, there's always a risk that your belongings could be broken, damaged or stolen so home contents insurance can help provide peace of mind should the worst happen.

We have partnered with Thistle Tenant Risks who provide specialist policies for tenants living in social and affordable housing, on a pay as you go basis.

Unlike many other contents insurance schemes, there is no excess to pay. You also don't need to have special door or window locks, just a lockable front door.

Policies start from just 67p per week and cover:
  • Theft, water damage, fire and many more household risks
  • Tenants' improvements (up to £2000 or 20% of the sum insured, whichever is the greatest)
  • Theft or attempted theft of contents in sheds, outbuildings and garages (up to £3,000)
  • Damage to external glazing for which you are responsible
  • Replacement and installation of locks for outside doors or windows and alarms, if keys are lost or stolen

Dog bites
Unfortunately two members of staff have recently suffered dog bites when visiting customers at home.

If you have a dog and we are visiting your home, please keep it in another room if you can, even if it does not usually bite.
Armed Forces pledge
To mark Armed Forces Day on 26 June we have signed a pledge to support the Armed Forces and their families.

This involves supporting the employment of veterans, service spouses and partners as well as employees who are in the reserve forces.
Free museums
If you're looking for a free day out there are now several museums which have reopened across Wiltshire and surrounding areas, including Chippenham Museum, and the newly refurbished Trowbridge Museum (pictured).
