Festive Market and Fun Run coming this weekend

The festive fun in Boston is set to continue next Sunday with a special Festive Market and Santa Fun Run.

On 12th December, Boston's Market Place will be host to a wonderful festive market featuring a selection of craft and gift stalls, food vendors and entertainers, including an ice carving demonstration. It is the perfect place to pick up a few more Christmas treats and enjoy the festive atmosphere!

The Market Place will also be the finishing line for the town's third-ever Santa Fun Run. Building on the successful events in 2018 and 2019, the fun run will kick off in Central Park, following a route that take in the town's most iconic sites and historic streets, before culminating at the Market Place.

Santa suits and festive dress are optional but encouraged, and it doesn't matter whether you run, hop or skip – it's all about taking part! There are even some special offers for those taking part and a goody bag with lots of surprises. Winter Window Competition

Boston Borough Council have announced details of a new shop front competition to help celebrate businesses and their shop windows this festive season.

The Winter Windows competition invites businesses across the borough to share and celebrate their efforts to dress up their shop frontage and window/s for Christmas. To enter, businesses just need to send a picture of their festive shop frontage and window/s through to the Council at communications.unit@boston.gov.uk by midnight on Thursday 9th December 2021. Boston Borough Council launches another way to report fly-tipping

You may have already heard of the What3Words app as it has been around for a little while now, however it is gaining momentum and finding more purposes over time, including use by the emergency services.

By enabling residents to use the What3Words app, fly-tips across the borough can be reported with more precise locations. Read more here

Climate Strategy Survey Consultation

The South & East Lincolnshire Council Partnership needs your views on their draft Climate Change Strategy!

Councils receive funding to prevent homelessness for vulnerable renters

The Government recently announced that an additional £65 million will be made available to local authorities in 2021/22 through the Homelessness Prevention Grant to support local authorities to help vulnerable households with rent arrears to reduce the risk of them being evicted and becoming homeless.

Seed Provider donates to award winning community partnership

A Boston based seed manufacturer has donated thousands of bulbs to a resident led horticultural partnership to aid in bringing more colour to the town centre. Boston Seeds, based at Langrick near Boston, donated in excess of 5,000 daffodil bulbs and several boxes of hyacinths to the Boston in Bloom partnership.

Scammers targeting residents trying to keep warm

Householders are being advised to take care when cold called by companies offering insulation.Unscrupulous companies are contacting residents, usually by telephone, offering spray foam loft insulation scams at excessive prices. They also offer other services such as jet-washing roof tiles or over-priced ventilation systems.

Launch of New Women's Self Defence Classes

Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex have launched a new Women's Self Defence Class, after receiving funding from Active Lincolnshire and Sport England. The first class took place on Friday 12th November and was a huge success.

Following public requests for this type of class the complex were happy to be able to work with a local martial arts teacher, Jason Featherstone, to make this happen. Read more here

Boston West has approval to begin works on new Central Hub Facility

Significant works to extend and change the use of the existing clubhouse to provide a Central Hub Facility at Boston West Country Park and Hotel, near Hubbert's Bridge Boston, have been approved. The site has already seen expansion since being recently acquired by Away Resorts with part of the golf course being changed for the siting of up to 300 caravans which was approved in 2020.
