A Fond Farewell to Jane Lake, Education Safeguarding Officer
Many of you will know and have benefitted from, the knowledge and experience that Jane has brought to the Safeguarding Team over the past decade. Jane has been tireless in assisting schools, other establishments and a variety of settings in keeping children safe. This has been through her strategic and operational work with colleagues in other agencies as well as the delivery of countless training sessions and safeguarding audits across Devon and beyond.

We are therefore very sorry to see Jane leave us for pastures new at Easter although I know that she is looking forward to a new challenge. Whilst Jane will be sorely missed Babcock's Safeguarding Team will continue to offer support and training for schools as we have always done and we plan to be back up to full strength for the start of the summer term.

I'm sure you will join us in wishing Jane all the very best for the future.

The theme of this event will focus on the links between DSVA, Mental Health and Trauma, a  more detailed agenda and further information will be sent in the New Year, but please make a note of this date and time in your calendars!  No need to respond just yet.

Devon County Collective (DCC) LGBT+ Staff Network was proud to attend the 'Supporting Transgender and Gender Diverse Pupils Conference', #LostInTransition.
The DCC LGBT+ staff network is mainly supported and facilitated by Devon County Council, but we welcome membership from those the council works in collaboration with and alongside, particularly teachers and schools support staff.   We meet regularly as a network outside school hours and provide information/updates via email / social media. Sometimes setting up a staff network can be challenging if you are a small organisation and it can make more sense to join a larger network. If you or staff within your organisation are interested in joining DCC LGBT+, please email us at

LGBT History Month takes place each February, read more here.

National CSE Awareness Day

The National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day aims to highlight the issues surrounding CSE; encouraging everyone to think, spot and speak out against abuse and adopt a zero tolerance to adults developing inappropriate relationships with children or children developing inappropriate relationships with other children.

NWG are committed to the fight against CSE and supporting victims and their families who are subjected to child sexual exploitation.  But they cannot succeed without the support of people like you.
