SIMS 2018 Spring Upgrade

The Spring upgrade should be with schools at the beginning of April. Release dates will be confirmed in our Upgrade Bulletin which will be published on the Scomis website at the beginning of February.  As usual the upgrade contains a number of new features as well as some long awaited changes requested by schools and local authorities.

SIMS Parent App and Parent App Lite

The SIMS Parent app allows schools to easily communicate with parents. Whether it's sharing information such as attendance, or school reports, or sending reminders for homework tasks, all of the information is easily accessible from the convenience of their phone, tablet or PC.

The Scomis Desktop provides all the administrative functions classroom teachers need on a day-to-day basis. Full integration with your school's Capita SIMS database provides teachers with access to SIMS data, with write back to the school's Capita SIMS when changes are made.

SIMS Primary

SIMS Primary is Capita's new cloud-based version of SIMS.  It builds on the success and functionality of SIMS, while providing tailored interfaces for each type of user.  Whereas SIMS has traditionally been installed on a Database server with clients accessing data, the new version will be accessed via a web interface on a variety of devices.

SIMS Finance

SIMS Finance is the next generation of finance software which will replace FMS for schools which are part of a Multi-Academy Trust and provide an alternative to other finance systems currently being used in schools.

18/19 price increases

We would like to inform all of our customers, that despite recent increases in inflation rates and anticipated public sector pay awards, we have held our price increase this year at 1%.  It will apply from 1st April for maintained schools and 1st September 2019 for academies and will be reflected in your next annual statements.

The GDPR clock is ticking!

Around 300 school colleagues have attended our User Group sessions and our full day GDPR courses, which have included some really lively conversations about the practical implications of the new regulations for schools.

There is a lot to do – but as the Information Commissioner says –she is expecting evolution not revolution.
