This one day conference will bring together nationally renowned keynote speakers, Dame Alison Peacock (Chartered College of Teaching) , Philippa Cordingley (CUREE) and David Weston (Teacher Development Trust) to explore the topic of professional development and learning. All schools engage in professional development but this does not always have the impact desired, often because it does not focus on collaborative professional learning.
The speakers will delve into current research and look at how school leaders can maximise the impact of professional development and create schools where pupils succeed and teachers thrive.
Practical case studies as well as wider evidence will be used to exemplify the approaches that exceptional schools and leaders take to support effective, collaborative professional learning. The sessions will also examine the research behind leadership, appraisal and professional development and present clear findings about what schools need to stop doing and what schools need to start doing in order to effect change.
