'The Poo Fairy', by Evan Boxall, won gold prize in the age five to nine category of the BBC Radio 2 contest.

Evan aged 7 of Redhill Primary School, Worcester, wrote about a fairy who turns dog mess into fairy dust.

During the live final Evan's story was read out by David Walliams.  Author and competition judge Francesca Simon, said of Evan's story that it was "A brilliantly silly concept - the Poo Fairy - that was rigorously thought-through, full of great jokes but coming to a thoughtful, insightful conclusion. A really mature and accomplished piece of storytelling."

The West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner currently grants Barnardo's to provide CSE support workers to work with children and young people who are encountering, or at risk of, CSE in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The current grant to Barnardo's comes to an end of 30th June 2018. The PCC opened up a new grant round to provide a new service to those identified as at risk, or a victim of, CSE in March. The successful applicant for this new service was West Mercia Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC).

In the coming weeks, Force colleagues, myself and WMRSASC will all be working together to ensure that there is a smooth transition between these services for any child or young person who may currently be involved within the Barnardo's service.

Please pass this information onto any colleagues you feel appropriate and let me know if you have any questions?

Regards
Claire Richardson, Commissioning Officer
