While most people pack beachwear and a good book for a holiday abroad, Linda Webb a teacher in the Visual Impairment team, squeezed 4 braille typewriters, braille books and toys into her suitcase on a recent trip to Uganda.

Linda was taking over £900 worth of supplies to the Centre for Visually Impaired Children in Kampala.

It is the latest leadership blog post on the Worcestershire Global Leadership Academy WGLA website

The WGLA is a partnership between Worcestershire Teaching Schools and Babcock Prime, to deliver National Professional Qualifications.

All summer term cohorts are now full and closed for application. Further cohort dates for NPQML and NPQSL will be announced on the website and twitter.

In April 2018 the criteria used to determine which pupils are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) was updated to reflect the introduction of Universal Credit and the phasing out of other income-based benefits.
Under the updated criteria, an estimated 50,000 more pupils will benefit from a free school meal compared to the previous benefits system.

Mel has qualifications in Deaf Education, Teaching and Psychology and has previously been a deputy headteacher.

Alison Newman has changed roles to become the new Safeguarding Senior Practitioner. Alison will be working closely with Denise Hannibal, Safeguarding lead at Worcestershire County Council to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of children and young people in Worcestershire.

We welcome Emily Bishop and Matt Potts to the position of School Improvement Early Years Lead. Both will share the position to ensure all children access high quality early years education.

The final case studies report 'Supporting Mental Health in Schools and Colleges Qualitative - case studies' presents the findings from case studies focusing on the provision of mental health and an understanding of the issues that institutions face in delivering provision.
