Wand Spelling is an interactive online resource to supplement the teaching of spelling from Y2 to Y6. It is designed for children to use as home learning activities or independent activities in school.
The resource enables children to practise spelling content learnt in lessons, and it allows teachers to monitor and assess the children's success.
The process for academies to notify STA about which LA they intend to use for moderating their teacher assessment (TA) and monitoring the phonics screening check has changed. All academies will be presumed to be working with their geographical LA. Academies must have a written agreement in place with their chosen LA by Friday 14 December. If academies wish to use a non-geographical LA, they must notify STA which LA this will be, through NCA tools, by Friday 14 December. Schools must provide confirmation of their chosen LA through NCA tools before the deadline of Friday 14 December.
Academies who subscribe to the Data and Assessment core package will have moderation, monitoring and data collection included in the subscription. The Data & Assessment team have now written to all academies outlining our 2018/2019 Moderation and Monitoring offer. If your academy/free school wishes to engage with Devon LA monitoring and moderation arrangements this year, please ensure you confirm this requirement to the Data & Assessment team no later than Friday, 30 November 2018 in order to comply with the change of process as outlined above.

Music Twilight Sessions - brass, djembe, samba, steel pans, strings and woodwind
A new, annual programme of twilight CPD sessions for specialists and non-specialist music teachers.
Each twilight CPD 'hands-on' workshop will offer colleagues practical music-making solutions and skills to take straight back into the classroom to target; first access, next steps and mixed ensemble provision.

Music Subject Leads and practitioners are invited to a FREE twilight networking to discuss school music development plans, network with colleagues in the area and have an instrumental taster session.
