Data Collection 2019 Guidance
Our data collection guidance has been streamlined this year. We have information about each Key Stage that you can download here.

Here you can download grids that detail the codes you can use for KS1 and KS2 teacher assessments. There have been a few changes and we recommend you pay particular attention to the Pre-Key Stage standards and the P-Scales you are able to use.

Data Collection Webpage
We have set up a new website page for data collection guidance.

You will find:
  • Downloadable guidance
  • Guidance on knowing which pupils to include in your submissions for each Key Stage
  • Guidance on what to do if a child is in a different curriculum year group but is chronologically the right age to have data submitted for them
  • Guidance on how to send phonics screening check and re-check data
  • Guidance on what to do if you notice a mistake in your data for EYFSP, Phonics Screening Checks or KS1 Teacher Assessments between the date you submitted the data and 19 July 2019
  • Reminder to remain GDPR conscious during this busy time
  • Summary of this year's changes with regards to KS1 and KS2 teacher assessments
  • Link to NCA tools for your KS2 teacher assessment submission
  • Link to Scomis website for guidance on wizards, user defined groups and anycomms
  • Link to Perspective Lite where the headteacher will need to login and check the data that was submitted by the school before we send it to the DfE
  • Link to anycomms details that were communicated at the end of April

Scomis Guidance
Please make sure you have downloaded all the guidance to help you complete your data returns. Wizard user guides, the guide on creating user defined groups and guidance on creating a CTF file for pupils in more than one year group will be vital.

Please also be aware there is new anycomms guidance

There was a communication sent out to schools explaining the changes that have been made and reminding schools to make sure they are able to log into anycomms.

Phonics Screening Check
As always please remember as well as your year 1 phonics screening checks you may need to re-check some of your year 2 children. Please submit the Year 1 Phonics Screening check and phonics screening recheck data in ONE CTF FILE.

If you need to double check if a year 2 child achieved the phonics screening check threshold last year headteachers can look in key to success for this information.

As communicated in our April 2019 update we are offering to help schools with identifying year two children that require a phonics screening recheck this academic year. If you would like to receive a list of year 2 children we are expecting you to return phonics recheck data for please complete this surveby the 24 May 2019. We plan to send the lists by the 7 June.
Perspective Lite
Headteachers have a responsibility to check the EYFSP, Phonics screening check and re-check as well as the KS1 teacher assessments that are submitted to us. We will make them available in Perspective Lite at some point in July for your headteacher to check before the information is sent to the DfE.

Please be aware we will need to switch off the data functions around data collection that are in Perspective Lite. Whilst the data is being uploaded into nexus by the various LAs you will have a skewed vision of the data until enough has been imported for it to be robust. It is difficult to predict when this might be the case but we anticipate switching off access around June and only switching back on around the end of July. Data reports are forming a part of the Data and Assessment core subscription for academies and as such at the point of making the data reports available again only maintained schools and subscribing academies will have access.
