Foster Care Fortnight, an annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering and to show how foster care transforms lives, will run between 13 and 26 May. If you would like us to promote your #FCF19 activities, and the support that your institution offers to young people who have been in care, then please let us know.

LEP widens criteria for Apprenticeship Grant for Employers

The criteria for the Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE) has been widened to encourage more businesses to apply.

Grants of up to £2,500 are now available for businesses with 249 or fewer employees to recruit an apprentice for the first time.

To qualify, the business must be based in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, Wakefield or York.

Students from different ethnic communities bring varying sets of values, perspectives, and beliefs into the learning environment.

Well-being in Education: Through Digital Content and Channels

When: Wednesday, 1 May between 3.30-4.30pm
Where: University of Leeds

The interactive session will focus on how digital presents an excellent mix of channels through which to raise awareness of, and convey helpful information about, well-being.

It will explore the power of both content and channels as conduits to enhance well-being – with a focus on young people in education and their key influencers.

With Estranged Students: A GHWY Good Practice Programme Event

When: Monday, 10 June between 12-5pm
Where: University of Leeds

Delegates will receive an overview of estrangement, up-to-date information on Stand Alone's work and training, examples of best practice and case-studies from across the region, and have the opportunity to discuss the drafting of the Stand Alone pledge.

The event will provide actionable advice and training for HE providers of all sizes and resource levels.

Health, Care and Education Networking Afternoon

When: Tuesday, 14 May between 4-6pm
Where: University Centre at Leeds City College

A chance for health, care and education professionals to informally talk about topical issues with like-minded associates.

There will also be time to discuss how to utilise funding available to train your staff through apprenticeship programmes.
