This comment by Jo Gulliver of the Hearing Impairment team summed up the team's commitment to providing the very best for pupils following another successful HI event.

The team held another teenagers' day, giving young people the opportunity to meet deaf role models, meet other teens with a hearing impairment and talk over issues.

Over time, these events have had a significant, positive impact on the hearing impaired students supported by the Hearing Impairment Team and they have grown in confidence through the activities.

Last year, Chadsgrove School received an allocation from the Prime Education Fund and as part of a project have introduced virtual reality headsets for pupils to use. The school tells us that the children are having some great learning experiences.

"They have been on a rollercoaster, done a red arrows fly past, explored a shipwreck, been on the set of a Star Wars movie and raced around a Formula 1 track! The language and levels of engagement were amazing… worth every penny. Big thank you to Babcock!"

Once again, this year schools and settings were invited to apply for the Prime Education Fund. Applications have been considered, funds awarded and we will provide updates from the various projects throughout the year.

The rise of exclusions and off-rolling has been highlighted in recent months.

Although rare the practice of off-rolling exists and is not in the best interest of the child. Ofsted actively discourage the negative practice.
  • What are the things to consider when making the decision to exclude?
