New COVID-19 Guidelines for businesses
As of 18th September 2020, hospitality venues in England must enforce the Rule of 6 amongst a list of other precautions that are required.

Restaurants, hotels, pubs, bars and all other hospitality venues could face a fine of up to £4,000 if the rule of 6 is not enforced. This refers to the limit of 6 people, outside of your household, that can meet at once.

Click here for more details on meeting friends and family.

Designated businesses and organisations, including hospitality, close contact services and leisure venues, will also be legally required to log details of customers, visitors and staff for NHS Test and Trace.

From Thursday 24 September the aforementioned sectors are also required to display official NHS QR code posters under law alongside the NHS COVID-19 app which has now been released and is available from Apple or Google Play stores.

Are you looking to create job placements for young people?

If you are creating fewer than 30 job placements, the Harborough Innovation Centre is one of the Kickstart Gateway in East Midlands that can help employers apply for a Kickstart Scheme grant on behalf of a group of employers.

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create new 6-month job placements for young people who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

This is part of the government's Plan for Jobs and aims to create hundreds and thousands of new, fully funded jobs across England, Scotland and Wales. The first placements are likely to be available from November.
Funding will cover for each job placement:
  • 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week
  • the associated employer National Insurance contributions
  • employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions
There will also be extra funding to support young people to build their experience and help them move into sustained employment after they have completed their Kickstart Scheme funded job.

If you are interested in being involved in the Kickstart Scheme please email: business@harborough.gov.uk
