Plans for the redevelopment of Sutton on Sea's Colonnade have been submitted for planning permission.

The latest plans build upon the draft designs, which have been adapted following the feedback received at the community event where they were first unveiled in early 2020. In addition to retaining all the major features of the initial plans - including: a new café, restaurant, gallery, exhibition spaces and new beach huts - the new plans also incorporate changes to provide enhanced settings for residents and visitors to spend more time participating in leisure activities and will ensure better access for all users.

Investment agreed for sports facilities

Earlier this month, councillors agreed to support a programme of investment in sports facilities in the District. The decision will see £130,000 invested in a new Astroturf surface at Louth's London Road Pavilion to replace the existing pitch. Councillors also agreed to provide £170,000 towards a new 3G all-weather football pitch, subject to feasibility work and securing additional funding.

Fifteen new "start-up" jobs for 16 to 24-year-olds are being created at East Lindsey's leading leisure and community Trust as part of a national 'super' work experience scheme called KICKSTART.

The paid employment opportunities at Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure & Culture, range from positions in Skegness at the Embassy Theatre, the high-ropes adventure experience Altitude44 and Café Magna, to Louth's London Road Sports Pavilion. Additional opportunities in Marketing, Arts Festival and Event operations are also on offer.

Winning full funding for the 25-hour-a-week jobs, the period of employment is initially for six months, but it is hoped that some permanent positions may become available as Magna Vitae centres and venues fully open-up again after almost a year of lockdowns and restrictions due to COVID-19.
