Local Winners
Local business 'Clarke & Roskrow Styling Opticians' have received the National Opticians 'Practice of The Year' award from the trade association, Optical Success Academy.

In September, the owner of the long-established Harborough business Anthony Clarke competed at the Optical Success Academy conference in York with over 100 of the top independent opticians in the UK and Ireland. Due to their amazing story of growth and innovative business practices they were crowned the winner of the Independent Optician Practice of the Year 2021.

On winning this prestigious award, owner Anthony Clarke said, "I'm delighted to receive this award from our peers in recognition of the hard work we have put into transforming our business and creating a unique client experience." But Anthony also feels it has wider implications beyond his own business, "This award is also for the business community and the population of Harborough and the wider area; we received this award above other amazing optical practices from London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Dublin, so not bad for a small market town in South Leicestershire! Harborough is blessed with so many amazing independent businesses, many of which have faced a great deal of challenges and adversity in recent times. I'm humbled to receive this award and dedicate it to all the fabulous businesses this fantastic town has to offer."

Start up Business Programme
If you started your business in or after 2018 and your trading was interrupted due to Covid-19 and lockdowns, we can help you get back on track. This free support has been specifically designed to help early stage businesses like yours to restart and grow.

There's a range of support to match the needs of your business and individual availability. The first step is to talk to a Business Gateway Adviser who will discuss which package is best for you. Your adviser will give you an impartial view based on what you tell them about your current situation and future ambitions.

There is also a grant fund available to help those businesses.
