Welcome to the Harborough Business Bulletin. We provide a fortnightly overview of the latest business related news, initiatives and support packages.
Start up Business Programme
If you started your business in or after 2018 you can access free support which has been specifically designed to help early stage businesses like yours to start and grow.

There's a range of support to match the needs of your business and individual availability. The first step is to talk to a Business Gateway Adviser who will discuss which package is best for you. Your adviser will give you an impartial view based on what you tell them about your current situation and future ambitions.

There is also a grant fund available to help those businesses.

The Leicester Graduate City Project
Part funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the LGCP offers local small/medium enterprises (SME) businesses an opportunity to employ a student intern from one of Leicester's universities, De Montfort University (DMU) and University of Leicester (UoL).

The two universities in the city produce skilled graduates, however unfortunately a high percentage of them do not remain in the county following graduation. This project aims to work with businesses to retain graduate talent within the area.

Internships are fully funded and are for 18.5 hours per week over 6 weeks, totally 111 hours. The start date for the first cohort of Interns is 20 June 2022, ending on the 29 July 2022.

Applications are now for the next round of internships, which will cover June to July 2022.

Criteria for Employers
  • Leicester or Leicestershire based SME
  • Not had an Intern from DMU or UoL previously
  • Must have either Company Registration number or UTR from HMRC
  • Annual Turnover must not be greater than 50 million Euros
  • Business must have less than 250 Employees
  • The Business must not have received more than 200,00 euros of De Minimis Aid in the last three years (or 100,000 euros for undertakings involved in road transport)

Help to Grow – Boost your Business Growth with 50 hours of training
Are you a member of the senior management team at a small or medium-sized business based in the East Midlands? Do you want to take your leadership skills and your business to the next level?

Join other business leaders at the University of Leicester School of Business on the new, government-subsidised, Help to Grow: Management programme.

Help to Grow is a 12-week programme for senior leaders in SMEs which the university is delivering as a leading business school accredited by the Small Business Charter and it is 90% subsidised by the government.
