Midlands Connect Survey | Midlands Connect have launched a survey regarding reconnecting the Coventry to Leicester and Nottingham rail line. The aim of the survey is to make the case for funding.
There is currently no direct train available between Coventry and Leicester or Nottingham. This rail improvement would connect the three cities, significantly reducing journey times, and allowing for a more frequent service. | | HAVE YOUR SAY |

Become a Community Champion | The VASL Community Champions project works with lonely older people who live alone in Harborough District and they are looking for volunteers who will make contact each week. Most people visit at home, but some meet in cafes or make regular phone calls. It is an opportunity to get to know someone and to encourage them to re-engage with the local community if that is possible.
People really appreciate having someone that they can talk to about their anxieties without bothering the family, particularly if they live at a distance.
Training is provided when you start and the staff team will match you with someone that you share interests with and provide any support that you need. Some volunteers visit in their lunch hour or after work - they can work around your commitments. It is a very simple thing to do, to sit down with somebody and listen to them for an hour but it really makes a difference. Could your business support staff members to do this as part of your Corporate Social Responsibility and commitment to your local community?
You can find out more below or via email: champions@vasl.org.uk or calling 01858 439262. | FIND OUT MORE |
