Ground-breaking new partnership agreed

Along with Boston Borough Council and South Holland District Council, we have formally signed off on plans to create an ambitious new partnership - the largest such partnership of councils in the country.

After being approved in principle by the three authorities in July, earlier this month each council approved the detailed business case for the formation of the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership.

Whilst each council will continue to be politically independent and be accountable to the communities they serve, the three councils will work collectively, supported by a shared management team and workforce, to deliver on their aspirations for their communities and to tackle common challenges.

Steeping River Community Update from the Environment Agency

The Environment Agency have provided their latest update about the Steeping River. You can read an excerpt about their dredging programme below, or read their newsletter in full here.

Great progress was made with the completion of Phase 1 of the dredging in March, despite the challenges of getting the crew back into the country owing to Government lockdown announcements over Christmas to help combat Covid 19. Phase 2 of the dredging has been put back slightly from September and is now due to begin in January 2022. A permit is needed from the EA's National Permitting Service to carry out the dredging. As a result of Covid 19, the demand on this service has meant processing times have been longer. The team remains committed to helping to protect people and the environment, while adapting to the effects of Covid-19 on how they work remotely. Dredging remains a key priority for partners who know just how much it means to the community as one of the ways to help reduce flood risk.
