East Lindsey District Councillors have formally granted planning permission for two major schemes for Mablethorpe – tapping into almost £16m of Town Deal funding.

A new purpose-built leisure centre and digital learning complex will be built on the site of the current Station Sports Centre in Mablethorpe and will increase and improve opportunities for leisure and learning in the town.

Councillors also approved planning consent for the Campus for Future Living, which is set to put Mablethorpe at the forefront of medical technology and innovation.

Purple-Lidded bin delivery update

The delivery of purple-lidded bins to those residents in phase one of the rollout (those residents whose bins are collected Mondays and Fridays) is largely complete, however due to operational issues there has been a delay for some of those residents.

If you are due a collection of paper and card on a Monday or a Friday and you have not received your purple-lidded bin then please present your grey recycling bin instead. You can continue to place your paper and card into your grey recycling bin until your purple-lidded bin is delivered.

For customers in Phase Two of the rollout (those whose bins are collected on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) please be advised your purple-lidded bins will be delivered in the coming weeks.

We would like to thank our residents so far for putting the #RightThing in the #RightBin and it has been fed back that the paper and card collected so far from those residents who have received their purple-lidded bin is of very high quality.

A quick reminder that tissues, takeaway pizza boxes, shredded paper and plastic bags are not accepted in our recycling and they need to be placed in your black bins.

Procurement launched to bring enviro-crime enforcement across the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership

Someone reaching their hand out their car window to drop litter on the floor

Litter, dog-fouling and fly-tipping and other enviro-crime offences which blight communities are to be tackled with enforcement across the whole of the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership geographical area.

A tendering process which invites businesses to carry out enforcement across the three councils has been launched for the first time. By opening up procurement to work across South Holland, Boston and East Lindsey is a key milestone for the Partnership while also being able to address enviro-crime head on across each authority.

Following the completion of the process, the successful bidder will provide foot patrols and overt CCTV surveillance across the Partnership to tackle littering, dog fouling and fly tipping. Officers will also be able to enforce offences in areas under Public Space Protection Orders.

A pilot project using 600 bands will be launched in East Lindsey and supported with a £1,000 grant from PCC Marc Jones and additional funding from local community groups including the Royal British Legion.
