East Lindsey residents need photo ID to vote at elections in May

For the first time, residents in East Lindsey will need to show photographic ID to vote at this year's local elections. Residents are being urged to make sure they are ready to vote in May by checking they have an accepted form of ID.

Accepted forms of ID include a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport; a UK, EEA or Commonwealth drivers' licence; and some concessionary travel passes, such as an older person's bus pass or an Oyster 60+ card. Voters will be able to use expired ID if they are still recognisable from the photo.

Budget Consultation 2023/24

East Lindsey District Council's budget consultation for 2023/24 is now open until Friday 10 February.

We want to hear the opinions of residents, partner organisations, businesses and other interested parties as part of our budget setting process for the year.

Election Act 2022

The Election Act 2022 was granted Royal Assent and passed into law on 28 April 2022, and this will bring significant changes to the way elections are run. One of the most significant changes is that you will need to show photographic identification (ID) when you attend a polling station to cast your vote.

Embassy Theatre to host Gaia, Museum of the Moon and Mars this coming spring

InOrbit is a season of arts, entertainment and wellbeing events featuring consecutive installations of Earth, Moon and Mars by renowned artist Luke Jerram on display for 6 weeks from 10 February to 24 March 2023.

The project is supported by East Lindsey District Council and funded from the UK Shared prosperity fund. Magna Vitae have sourced, designed and delivered to bring inspiration, experience and economic benefit 

to our local population during a very challenging time of year for Seaside communities.

Entry to view each installation and to take part in many of the creative activities is free and can be booked now.

To launch the opening of each art piece we have also secured the following exclusive talks from industry specialists in the presence of Earth, Moon, Mars on the topics they inspire:

Council invites eligible East Lindsey organisations' expressions of interest in £6.14million Prosperity Funding

Businesses and communities in East Lindsey are set to benefit from £6.14million of new funding secured by the District Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF).

East Lindsey District Council is inviting eligible local organisations to submit expressions of interest for the funding, which will help to support the delivery of projects and programmes that help to build pride

£4.44million has been awarded to East Lindsey by the Government through the UKSPF, with a further £1.7million available through the REPF, a separate fund focused on addressing the specific challenges faced by rural areas. All of the funding must have been invested by 31 March 2025.

£8m Levelling Up funding secured to transform at-risk heritage and cultural sites in East Lindsey

Three historic sites are set to benefit from £8m Levelling Up funding from the Government.

The Government has announced East Lindsey District Council has been successful in its bid to support ambitious regeneration schemes for Alford Manor House, Alford Windmill and Spilsby Sessions House.

The funding will help transform these culturally significant sites, attract new visitors and enhance their uses. The Levelling Up Round 2 investment will create a financially stable future for the three at risk heritage assets and will have a beneficial impact on the entire Lincolnshire Wolds tourism economy.

The Levelling Up Fund is specifically designed to secure capital investment in infrastructure that has the potential to improve lives and give people pride in their communities. The fund being one component of the Government 'Levelling Up' ambition.

Contract awarded to bring enviro-crime enforcement across the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership

The South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership has awarded a three year contract with the provision to extend for up to another two years, to Kingdom LA Support Ltd to carry out environmental crime enforcement work, commencing in January 2023.

This contract award is a key strategic milestone for the Partnership in addressing enviro-crime head on across each authority as littering, dog-fouling, fly-tipping and other enviro-crime offences continue to blight our communities. It is also a key objective in the Partnership Annual Delivery Plan for 22/23 which has been delivered on time by the collaborative efforts across the three Councils.

Kingdom will provide foot patrols and overt CCTV surveillance across the Partnership to tackle littering, dog fouling and fly tipping. Officers will also be able to enforce offences in areas under Public Space Protection Orders.

National Grid grants and additional funding help support East Lindsey's Warm Spaces

East Lindsey District Council has been successful with a bid to the National Grid - Community Matters Fund in receiving a grant to allow them to support local community groups who are open as a Warm Space this Winter.

The Council are in process of making a £400 one-off contribution available to support Warm Spaces who have signed up to the districts Warm Spaces directory opening on a weekly basis. For those signed up but open less than once a week will be eligible to apply for a one-off contribution of £200.

The following groups who eligible for funding are:

  • Not for Profit Company Limited by Guarantee
  • Constituted Company/Voluntary Group
  • Parish or Town Council
  • Parochial Church Council
  • Registered Charity

Those groups who we are aware of and are signed up and eligible have been contacted and payments are being processed.

Warm spaces in East Lindsey are also being supported as part of the local Household Support Fund, funding has been made available to Age UK Lindsey to help them to continue to distribute warm packs this winter. Where older residents are need them, packs with hot drinks, thermals and energy advice can be delivered.

Council to install 40 new electric vehicle charging points in East Lindsey car parks

Plans for 40 new electric vehicle charging points to be installed across East Lindsey in the coming months are underway, after the District Council was awarded a £150,000 grant by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).

The Grant, which is part of the second phase of OZEV's Onstreet Residential Chargepoint Scheme, is designed to provide local residents who may not have access to their own off street parking facilities the opportunity to charge electric vehicles.

Initial work has begun to install new charging points at the following locations, with work expected to be completed by April 2023:

  • Market Place, Tattershall - 4 x 7kW dual chargepoints
  • Princes Parade, Skegness - 4 x 7kW dual chargepoints
  • Lawn Car Park, Skegness - 4 x 7kW dual chargepoints
  • Marine Avenue, Sutton on Sea - 4 x 7kW dual chargepoints
  • The Hub, Mareham Road, Horncastle - 2 x 7kW dual chargepoint plus 2 x 22kW dual chargepoints
